The Museum of Scotland was only opened in 1998 and it is part of a group of museum which also include the War Museum, Museum of Flight, Museum of Costume and Museum of Rural Life.
The museum is located in the city centre of Edinburgh, a few of minutes walk from Princes Street and it offers visitors the chance to explore Scotland’s eventful history.
There are plenty of interactive activities to keep you entertained with the chance to test drive a F1 car, design a robot or get to know the worlds first cloned mammal Dolly the sheep.
There are exhibits on all the main parts of Scotland history from the Scottish enlightenment, the wars of independence and the Act of Union when Scotland became part of the United Kingdom.
There are daily tours round the museum which last for an hour and depending on which day you visit they are based on different themes, they are Free of charge. There are also various talks and lectures given at the museum, these usually last for an hour and incur a small charge (usually around £5).
