The Edinburgh Marathon has been held since 2003 and it is run over a distance of 26 miles. There are around 15,000 entries which take part each year and the event is watched by around 100,000 spectators.
The marathon supports several charities officially including Maggie's Cancer Caring Centers and Children's Hospice Association Scotland.
The route starts at just outside Princes Street in the city centre and it goes through Leith then goes along the coast until it finishes in the Musselburgh region of Edinburgh.
